Common Cursor issues and fixes
What people run into most when they add Bot-Hosting, and how to get past it.
Cursor says too many MCP tools are enabled
Cursor loads MCP tool details on demand, so all the Bot-Hosting tools normally fit. If you see Too many MCP tools are enabled for this model, turn off servers you don't use in Customize > MCPs, click tool names in the chat tools list to switch them off, or pick another model.
Bot-Hosting shows Needs authentication in Cursor
Open Customize > MCPs, click Authenticate next to bot-hosting and finish the sign-in in your browser. If no browser opens, toggle the server off and on, then open the Output panel (Ctrl+Shift+U) and pick MCP Logs to see the error.
Cursor MCP install link opens Cursor but nothing happens
Update Cursor first, since a 3.15 bug sent install links to Customize with no install window. Otherwise add Bot-Hosting by hand in ~/.cursor/mcp.json, save and restart Cursor. On Linux AppImage installs, cursor:// links may not be registered at all.
What your AI can do
Everything you do in the dashboard, asked in plain words.
Build and host your bot
It creates the deployment, writes the code, installs the packages and starts it.
Find and fix crashes
It reads the logs, explains why the bot stopped and fixes the file or the setting.
Manage the rest
Files, environment variables, packages, domains and resources, on request.
Stay in control
Secret variables stay masked, backups can be restored, and you can disconnect the AI at any time.
Try asking
Copy a request, paste it to your AI and watch it work.
Deploy this folder to a new Bot-Hosting deployment and start it.
My bot on Bot-Hosting crashed. Read the logs, fix the code here and deploy again.
Check that DISCORD_TOKEN is set as a secret variable on Bot-Hosting, then restart the bot.
Questions, answered.
Where does Cursor store the Bot-Hosting MCP config?
Global servers live in ~/.cursor/mcp.json and work in every project. A project can also have its own .cursor/mcp.json. Cursor merges both files, and if both define bot-hosting, the project entry wins.
Do Cursor Cloud Agents use my Bot-Hosting sign-in?
No. Cloud Agents keep their own MCP sign-ins on Cursor's servers and use servers set up in the Cloud Agents dashboard, so you connect Bot-Hosting there separately. Signing out on your machine does not sign out Cloud Agents.
How do I pause or remove Bot-Hosting in Cursor?
Open Customize, then MCPs, and use the toggle next to bot-hosting to pause it, or remove it there. To cut off access for good, also revoke Cursor in your Bot-Hosting dashboard under Developer, then My apps.
Is it free?
Yes. The MCP server comes with every Bot-Hosting account, free plan included. What your AI can create stays within your plan, like in the dashboard.
