Common Grok issues and fixes
What people run into most when they add Bot-Hosting, and how to get past it.
Grok not using my custom connector
Grok calls a connector's tools on its own when your question relates to that service, so name Bot-Hosting or your deployment in the request. Also check that Bot-Hosting is listed on grok.com/connectors and that you finished the sign-in.
Grok custom connector missing on a Business account
On Grok Business and Enterprise an admin must add the connector first. In the xAI console they open Grok Business > Connectors, click + Add Connector, pick Other and enter the server URL. You then connect your own account on grok.com/connectors.
Grok rejects the server URL or finds no tools
Paste the server URL exactly, with https and the full path and no extra spaces. Grok only connects to servers on the public internet, which Bot-Hosting is, so check for a typo first. Then finish the sign-in so Grok can discover the tools.
What your AI can do
Everything you do in the dashboard, asked in plain words.
Build and host your bot
It creates the deployment, writes the code, installs the packages and starts it.
Find and fix crashes
It reads the logs, explains why the bot stopped and fixes the file or the setting.
Manage the rest
Files, environment variables, packages, domains and resources, on request.
Stay in control
Secret variables stay masked, backups can be restored, and you can disconnect the AI at any time.
Try asking
Copy a request, paste it to your AI and watch it work.
Create a Discord bot that answers /ping with Pong, host it on Bot-Hosting and start it. Tell me when to add the bot token as a secret variable.
My Discord bot is offline. Read its logs, tell me why and fix it.
List my deployments with the RAM and disk each one uses.
Questions, answered.
Do I need to pick which Bot-Hosting tools Grok can use?
No. Once the connector is active, Grok discovers the server's tools on its own and uses them when your question relates to Bot-Hosting.
Can I add the Bot-Hosting connector in the Grok mobile app?
On iOS and Android, connectors are under Settings, then Connectors. xAI documents the custom connector steps on grok.com, so adding Bot-Hosting in a browser is the documented path.
What happens if my Grok Business admin removes the connector?
Members can no longer connect to it or use it. To cut off only your own access, revoke Grok in Bot-Hosting under Developer, then My apps.
Is it free?
Yes. The MCP server comes with every Bot-Hosting account, free plan included. What your AI can create stays within your plan, like in the dashboard.
